What the Bible Says
What Guides Us
There is MUCH that can be said concerning this and it would be quite extensive and exhaustive but, for the sake of introductions to what we trust the Lord wants to accomplish through us and you, we will make it concise, yet not at all minimizing anything! Indeed, this is what we follow, what guides us, the very ways of our Savior, the statutes of the Lord of Hosts, the holy parameters by which we are to live, the very fundamentals of our Christian walks. They must be mentioned, as they set us apart from not only the world around us, but they necessarily and transparently help you to decide if ours align with yours. And, whether they do or not, we—us and you—need to align ours with Him and submit. Amen?! Yes.
- God created everything- no evolution, no big bang (Genesis 1:1-31)
- God has always existed and always will exist (Psalm 90:2)
- God, Jesus, Holy Spirit are One, not three (John 15:26, Genesis 1:1-2, John 1:1-14)
- God is sovereign and the highest authority (Acts 4:23-24, Romans 13:1-2)
- Jesus– the Word– has and will always exist, has pre-eminence, is fully God and fully man, has been given all authority in Heaven and on earth (Colossians 1:15-19, Matthew 28:19)
- God is over Jesus, Jesus is over man and the Church, man is over woman (1 Corinthians 11:3)
- All good things come from God (James 1:17)
- Discipline is a form of love (Hebrews 12:5-11)
- God is love, yet He is also just and holy and righteous (1 John 4:8,16; Psalm 99:9, 2 Corinthians 5:21)
- Man is saved by God’s grace through faith, NOT by acts or works or deeds (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- The Holy Spirit gives gifts to men to be USED (1 Corinthians 12:8-11)
- “Once saved, always saved” is a fallacy. There IS such a thing as apostasy, a falling away–as far as it depends on us, not God (Hebrews 6:4-8; 3:12-14, 2 Thessalonians 2:2-3)
- Grace covers sin, but does not allow for intentional and/or habitual sin (Romans 6:1-4)
- The Bible is complete, infallible and inerrant. Any institution or organization which purports another book, other writings or teachings, new or additional revelations (extrabiblical), seeks to depend on a man or woman or false god is a sect, a cult or a false religion, and is not from God (Psalm 119:160, 18:30; Deuteronomy 4:2, Ecclesiastes 12:11-12)
- A quote that is often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, but is not a command of the Lord says, “Preach the Gospel and, if necessary, use words.” While our lives should be marked by holiness and serve as an example of our transformation and new life in Christ, they do not afford us the luxury of not speaking and sharing the Word (Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 10:13-17)
- Baptism does not save you, but it is necessary for salvation whenever possible, as it pertains to Jesus’ example (Matthew 3:14-15) and the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20)—it was not possible with the thief on the cross. See Colossians 2:12 and Galatians 2:20 for what is meant by the term “baptism” in its true sense.
- The Church—God’s people—must and should meet together regularly (Acts 2:42, Hebrews 10:24-25)
- Holiness and obedience should mark the Christian life. They are not forms of “legalism,” but forms of love flowing out of the heart of a true believer towards their Savior (1 Peter 1:14-16, 1 Thessalonians 4:7, 1 Samuel 15:22-23)
- Scripture is not to be taken out of context. This promotes either false doctrine and theology and/or weak faith and confusion (1 Peter 2:24/ Isaiah 53:5, 2 Corinthians 4:1-3, 2 Timothy 2:15). People think this is minor or a matter of semantics, but it is just as false as teaching “cheap grace.”
- “Cheap Grace” vs. “Lordship Salvation” as some refer to them —inherent in submitting to Christ as Savior is acknowledging Him and surrendering to Him as the Lord or Master of your life. It is not a work or a deed, but a response; it is embedded in making Him not only the “theos” (God and Creator of the universe) of your life, but to go so far as Thomas did and making Him the “kyrios” (allowing Him to have absolute ownership rights) over yourself and your life from this point forward (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, John 20:28)
- There is to be a time on the earth during the last days where the Church (both those still alive and those who have “fallen asleep” in Christ) will be caught up to Christ bodily and in the air. We, His bride, anticipate this with great joy, excitement and anticipation! This issues us into Heaven with our Father, our Savior, our Comforter (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)
- The devil, the enemy of our souls, will be chained for 1,000 years, then will be released for a short time (Revelation 20:7-10)
- We will one day reign with Christ the Lord (2 Timothy 2:12, Revelation 20:6)
- The enemy will then be finally done, defeated and done away with (Isaiah 11:6, Revelation 21:22-23)
- There will be a new heaven, a new earth and a new heavenly Jerusalem come down from above (Revelation 21:1-8)
- We will be with the LORD forevermore! (Psalm 23:6, Jeremiah 32:38, Revelation 21:4)
